Day of the Dead colourful skull jewellery - flashbacks from the Shh archives!
Here’s a little trip down memory lane for this Halloween season. Here we have photos from the very first photo shoot that I collaborated with stylist Sopheak Seng for. And I can remember now how absolutely thrilled I was to be involved!
Sopheak styled this Day of the Dead fashion editorial for a New Zealand magazine, and when I popped in to take a peek behind the scenes I just COULD NOT BELIEVE how detailed and amazing the set was - there were flowers, candles, fruit, furniture and colourful props galore.
While I was there I saw hair and makeup artist Hil Cook creating the most AMAZING hair styles using wool and oh my goodness I felt like I was Ugly Betty sneaking a peek behind the fashion curtain. It was so flipping exciting.
At the time I used a lot of skull beads, spikes, charms and trinkets in my jewellery designs, and so the photoshoot was the dream collaboration. I loaned a selection of colourful necklaces and bracelets and couldn’t wait to see the final photographs.
Below you can see more photos from the shoot, and I’ve trawled RIGHT back into the depths of my computer and pulled out some pix of the skull jewellery I used to make, too.
Ahhh, such fun times!
